Metro to conduct five community meetings for Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project

Written by jrood

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will conduct five station area and maintenance facility-planning workshops in late March as part of the environmental review process for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project.

The meetings, will take
place March 23, 24, 25, 27, and 31, and will focus on different segments of the
corridor and will present specific information on each of the seven planned
stations plus an option for one more along the proposed 8.5-mile north-south
light rail alignment between the Exposition Line and the Metro Green Line.

The public should note
that each meeting will address a specific station or set of stations associated
with the neighborhood where the meeting is held. The same general information
on maintenance facilities will be presented at every meeting, including an
assessment of all new sites under study in this phase of analysis and an update
from the maintenance facility meeting held February 24.

The agenda for these
workshop meetings will be a 30-minute open house and maintenance facility
planning discussion and 90 minutes spent on station site and station area
planning.

In another story, the
elevator to the Metro Blue Line Slauson Station that had been out of service
since February 22 reopened March 23 after extensive repair work.

The repairs were
expedited and were completed 14 days before the original April 5 completion
date. Excessive corrosion had caused the elevator floor to swell under the
sills and deteriorated many other components. The elevator now has new
stainless steel doors and floor and a new piston to stop oil leaks. The sill
was realigned to make the doors open and close better.
