Minnesota Northstar commuter rail work continues

Beginning July 21, crews will tie the overhead catenary system of the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit line into the existing system at the Warehouse District Station. The Warehouse District Station will close at 7:30pm on Tuesday, July 21 and reopen on Wednesday, July 22 at 4:00am. At the Minneapolis LRT, crews poured the final course of concrete on the LRT platform. Communications system testing and programming continues at both the LRT and commuter rail stations. Energization and testing of the OCS wires of the LRT extension will begin the week of July 20. Crews installed the glass at the LRT station shelters this week. Fencing at the commuter rail platform will be installed next week.

In Coon Rapids, crews completed seeding work and installed fire prevention curtains in the pedestrian overpass. Punchlist work began the week of July 20.

In Anoka, crews worked on punchlist items at the Anoka station.

Crews landscaped the concrete islands in the west half of the parking lot in Elk River. Punchlist work began.

Punchlist work at the Big Lake station site continues. Work at the VMF has been completed.

Crews began installing structural steel on the west head house at the Fridley station Concrete pours continue at the center head house as crews form and pour footings and walls. Work on the center head house walls is expected to be completed the week of July 20. Crews poured the deck and the stairs at the east head house and will pour the concrete approaches for the east parking lot
