National Gateway Launches Facebook, Twitter pages

Written by jrood

The National Gateway has launched its FacebookTM and TwitterTM social media channels.

"With the addition of
the National Gateway Facebook and Twitter channels, supporters or interested
citizens will have the ability to easily access important information about the
project and interact with other supporters," said Louis Renjel, vice president,
strategic infrastructure initiatives for CSX Transportation. "We’re excited
about the National Gateway’s many benefits, and hope others will join us online
to show their support."

The National Gateway is an
$842-million public-private sector initiative to create a more efficient rail
route linking Mid-Atlantic ports with Midwestern markets, which will improve
the flow of freight between these regions by increasing the use of double-stack
trains. The project will create more than 50,000 jobs, reduce highway congestion
and transportation emissions and will deliver $22 in benefits for every $1 of
public funds invested.

The National Gateway Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/Nat_Gateway) will provide timely information updates on major construction
developments and milestones, while the National Gateway’s Facebook page (
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/National-Gateway/136534473025721?ref=ts <http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/National-Gateway/136534473025721?ref=ts> ) will feature robust visual content to provide
a narrative of the project’s progress.

The National Gateway is
supported and endorsed by a growing coalition of governors and regional
officials across six states, more than three-dozen members of Congress, three
port authorities, and dozens of global shippers, ocean carriers, business
organizations and environmental groups.
