New York MTA to hold West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Study Open House

Written by jrood

Regional Transportation District MTA Metro-North Railroad will hold a third Open House in Orange County to present the latest information on the West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Study. The purpose of the study has been to evaluate options to improve transit services between central Orange County and New York City and to enhance regional transit access to Stewart International Airport.

The Open House is
scheduled for Tuesday, July 20 in Newburgh, N.Y. Metro-North Railroad and the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and study partners will present the
preliminary findings of a two-step Alternatives Analysis process.

The two-step detailed
screening process has identified a short list of the most viable alternatives.
These would be evaluated in greater detail in the next phase of the project.
Some of the alternatives that will be identified at the end of this two-step
process may be considered for implementation in the near future without the
need for DEIS-level analysis.

As part of an extensive
outreach effort, this event provides an additional opportunity for the public
to provide input on the results of the screening process and allows continued
involvement in the project.

Additional information about the study is
available at the website: www.mta.info/mta/planning/whrtas.
