Northstar on track; Fridley Station construction progressing

Northstar train service is on track to begin on Monday, November 16, 2009. In downtown Minneapolis, Light Rail and Northstar system testing continue. Crews finished milling and paving the LRT track area. Communications system testing and programming continued at the LRT station. The overhead catenary system wires are now live.

Punchlist work
continues at the Northstar suburban stations.

In Fridley, crews
continued concrete pours for the station platform, sidewalks and sign footings.
Placement of steel on the west head house continues. Painting of the steel on
the station platform is scheduled to continue. Roof work on the station
platform shelters occurred the week of August 31. Work in the tunnel continues,
with tiling and electrical work to continue the week of Sept. 7. Roadway
grading on 61st Way continues. Preparation for work on the sidewalks and road
also will continue. Curb and gutter work continued on the cul-de-sac at the
east end of 61st Way. Concrete paving of the cul-de-sac will begin the week of
Sept. 7.
