Nortrak wins Metra order; manufactures 20,000th frog

VAE Nortrak North America Inc. won a Metra Commuter Service master purchase agreement for rail. The master purchase agreement is for new 115RE and 136RE AREMA rail for a period of 18 months. The first train with 64,000 lineal feet of welded rail will be loaded on a rail train and headed for Chicago for this season's welded-rail-laying program.  

In November of 1992 the
Nortrak Birmingham plant successfully launched its trackwork business by
completing it first SGM frog. Over the years the Birmingham plants have
produced frogs for all of the North American Class 1 railroads as well as a
multitude of transit authorities including solid, RBM, WBM, MPF, all rail
spring, welded spring and RBW frogs.

The Birmingham plants
commemorated the completion of the 10,000th frog in April of 2001 and on April
28, 2010 it celebrated the manufacture of the 20,000th frog with an open house
and barbecue for customers and employees on the front lawn of the plant.

To commemorate the occasion,
Norfolk Southern was presented the 20,000th frog, a 20-136 RBM built for the
Roanoke, Va., facility.
