PB designing transit depot in Singapore

Parsons Brinckerhoff has been awarded a contract to provide architectural and engineering design for the Tuas Depot, a new train and vehicle service facility to support the ongoing expansion of the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) System.

The Tuas Depot will have
the capacity to stable as well as maintain and overhaul 60 six-car train sets,
along with sufficient numbers of maintenance locomotives, maintenance wagons
and specialist permanent way vehicles. The depot will provide all necessary
cleaning, maintenance and overhaul facilities. It will also contain a control
center, training facilities, intake substation and storage areas for the
vehicle fleet and associated railway system.

As the prime consultant on
the project, PB is responsible for overall architectural and engineering design
as well as functional and equipment planning, including design of alignment,
geotechnical, structural, civil, plumbing and sanitary aspects of the project. The
scope of work also entails project safety review, system assurance,
electromagnetic compatibility, value engineering, interface management, CSD/SEM
drawings, traffic impact assessment, sustainability planning and design,
security design, preparation of tender drawings, assistance in tender
evaluation and design support during construction.
