Paducah and Louisville Railway will spend $9 million to replace a 130-year-old bridge near Muldraugh, Ky. The project was denied federal funds from a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant, but will proceed because the bridge is near the end of its lifespan, according to Tom Garrett, president of the railroad. The new bridge will replace the original, built in the 1880s and will stand 83 feet tall and span 570 feet.
