Portec Rail Group Sheffield, U.K. appoints Allen head of engineering (Rail)

Portec Rail GroupSheffield, part of Portec Rail Products, Inc., appointed Mark Allen as the Head of Engineering (Rail) U.K.  Allen brings a wealth of specialist experience from within the U.K. rail industry. He joined the Rail industry via the Railtrack U.K. Graduate Training Scheme in 1997 having achieved a degree in civil engineering and engineering management and being previously employed within the civil engineering sector.

In recent years, he has primarily been involved within the National Specialist team (Rail) at Network Rail U.K. headquarters focusing on rail profile and rail friction management. This specialist knowledge will form the backbone of his role and responsibilities to support Portec Rail Group customers' short, medium and longer-term strategies.

Mark Allen adds, "I am extremely pleased to join Portec Rail Group, U.K. The current economic climate presents a number of challenges to the Rail industry, yet the solutions that we/Portec Rail Group offer worldwide, add significant value, cost savings and benefits to the rail industry and for the end user. My appointment to the head of engineering role aims to offer tangible and practical solutions to support the rail industry's related needs and problems, in effect to provide a total ‘one stop shop' solution."

He lives in North Hertfordshire U.K. (near Cambridge) and will manage his time between the Portec Rail Sheffield Office and his home office.
