Sounder M Street to Lakewood track and signal project update

Written by jrood

Beginning Friday, March 19, at 9:00 p.m., the street crossing at Steilacoom Blvd. SW in Seattle is scheduled to be fully closed to traffic so the crossing can be demolished and reconstructed over the weekend. The crossing is expected to reopen to vehicles early the following Monday morning. A full weekend closure of the crossing was scheduled to reduce the impacts of a partial mid-week closure that would require additional working days.

Crews have been
constructing a series of track sections and switches in the area near
Steilacoom Blvd. SW that will serve as storage track for the Lakewood Layover
Area project. Rail de-stressing and final surfacing continues in the area south
of S. Chandler St.

The week of March 22, crews
will begin track demolition and reconstruction on the section of track between
S. 74th St. and Steilacoom Blvd. SW.
