St. Louis Metro kicks off service restoration with special event

St. Louis Metro is launching the first phase of service restoration on June 28 with changes to MetroLink and MetroBus frequency and routes, marking the beginning of a new era of public-transit rebuilding, expansion and innovation. Public officials, Metro's leadership and other Metro employee volunteers will welcome passengers back on the first day of service restoration and will pass out specially wrapped cookies at MetroLink and MetroBus stations and transfer centers throughout the system.
At North Hanley MetroLink
Station and MetroBus Transfer Center, located at North Hanley Road and
University Drive, St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley and Chesterfield
Mayor John Nations will join Metro executives and other Metro volunteers to
welcome customers to Day 1 of a new era in improved transit service for the
region, and will thank them for their support of transit at the North Hanley
MetroLink Station.
Metro is launching the
first phase of restoring service that was cut last year. Frequency of
rush-hour
MetroLink service will increase by 25 percent and service will be restored to
20 bus routes in St. Louis County and St. Louis City.
Revenue from the
Proposition A sales tax approved in April will finance service restoration and
future expansion. Approximately 120 new bus operators, mechanics and front-line
supervisors will be hired by the end of the year to provide the restored
service.
