Union Pacific railroad bridge nearly succumbs to flooding

Written by jrood

The Union Pacific Railroad bridge spanning Coleto Creek was damaged May 15 as a result of the flooding caused by torrential rainfall, the Victoria, Texas, Advocate reports.

Union Pacific crews
reported to the company’s Coleto Creek rail bridge early May 15 to assess
damage done to the sand base of the crossover. According to officials, the
rising tide washed away the base of the railroad tracks, endangering train
traffic.

Assessment of the damage
continues as the water recedes. Crews will begin working to mend the damage
done sometime in the next few days.
