On October 4, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is making significant improvements to light rail service since its inception nearly 23 years ago. VTA will operate a new non-stop, faster express light rail service now featuring free WiFi. With the debut of the VTA Commuter Express, customers will enjoy faster and more frequent light rail service with six newly added, peak-hour commute trips from south San Jose, Calif. through downtown to North San Jose.

Customers riding the new
Commuter Express light rail will be able to access WiFi, free of charge, while
on board these trains. Trains with WiFi capability are marked with a "WiFi On
Board" sticker.  Customers on the
VTA Commuter Express will enjoy the added convenience, reduced travel times,
and WiFi for the same fare that VTA charges for existing light rail service.

Three northbound express
trains will leave the Santa Teresa Station weekday mornings at 7:16, 7:46 and
8:16 a.m. Three southbound express trains will leave the Baypointe Station
weekday afternoons at 4:07, 4:37 and 5:07 p.m. Trains will make all stops
between Santa Teresa and Ohlone/Chynoweth, then operate non-stop to Convention
Center. From Convention Center, trains will make all stops until reaching the
Baypointe Station.
