Washington, D.C., Metro sets June weekend track maintenance schedule

Written by jrood

Each weekend in June, there will be major track work taking place to address Metro's priority of maintaining a state of good repair on the Red, Blue and Green lines. In addition, construction work on the extension of rail to Dulles will take place on the Orange Line. All of June's weekend projects will impact travel times and cause delays.

Friday, June 4, to Sunday,
June 6.

Orange Line — There will be no train service between the East Falls
Church and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations on Saturday, June 5 and
Sunday, June 6 as the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project undertakes major
construction activities that will eventually connect the new rail line to the
existing Metrorail system.

During the weekend, the Dulles Corridor Metrorail
Project will perform construction on a pier located east of the West Falls
Church-VT/UVA Metrorail station, drive piles outside of the right-of-way fence
along the I-66 west and eastbound lanes and replace ties on the tracks. All of
this work is necessary to connect the new rail line to the Orange Line.

help people get around the construction zone,
