Work suspends some weekend service on CTA Blue, Red Lines

Written by jrood

Rail service between the Blue Line's Clark/Lake and UIC-Halsted stations temporarily will be suspended from 10 p.m. October 30 until 4 a.m. November 2, as work to replace track in the south end of the Dearborn subway continues this weekend. Bus shuttles will operate as a substitute for rail service making stops adjacent to the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe, Jackson, LaSalle, Clinton and UIC-Halsted stations.

Crews are replacing
deteriorated wooden half ties with concrete half ties, running rail and contact
(third) rail to remove emerging slow zones and help prevent the creation of new
slow zones.

Northbound Red Line trains
temporarily will be unable to stop at the Morse and Jarvis stations from 10
p.m. October 30 until 6 p.m. November 1 due to track maintenance work.
Southbound Red Line service is not affected. During this time, northbound Red
Line customers who want to exit at Morse or Jarvis should travel to Howard and
board a southbound train to the appropriate station. Customers at Morse or
Jarvis who want to travel north should board a southbound train to Loyola to
access a northbound train.
