Genova named RTD interim GM

The Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) Board of Directors named David Genova interim general manager, succeeding Phillip Washington, who will resign April 15 to assume the helm of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

“I am so pleased we have a strong leadership bench from which to select the interim general manager, thanks to the long-term investment RTD has made in developing our outstanding leadership team,” said RTD Board Chair Charles Sisk. “Our focus is on maintaining the continuity, stability and health of RTD, as we continue to complete four new rail lines and the US 36 Bus Rapid Transit in 2016. Dave will provide us with that leadership, as well as the ongoing management of our base business operations.”

Genova currently serves as assistant general manager of safety, security and facilities and was designated by Washington as his successor in the staff succession plan. Genova has been with RTD for more than 21 years, serving RTD since 1994 as the assistant general manager of safety, security and facilities for eight years and prior to that, was the senior manager of public safety for 10 years. He brings extensive leadership experience from throughout the agency, including overseeing safety certification for rail line openings and the newly renovated Denver Union Station.

The RTD general manager executive sarch committee will continue its process to find a permanent general manager. As interim general manager, Genova will be eligible for consideration for the permanent position.
