Metra has updated its buying plan to provide prospective vendors, contractors and subcontractors with a list of equipment, goods and services it expects to purchase within the next 12 months.

The 2016 3rd Quarter through 2017 2nd Quarter buying plan lists the estimated term of each contract, the anticipated timeframe for when the solicitation will be issued and an estimated contract value to provide prospective vendors with information they need to bid on Metra contracts.

Metra updates its annual buying plan on a quarterly basis and posts it online as part of an initiative to increase the agency’s transparency by publishing information about design contracts, construction projects and other professional services. Metra says it remains focused on promoting, assisting and ensuring diverse participation in all aspects of its contracting, consulting and the supply of goods and services.

“Our online buying plan makes it easy for businesses to find the information they need to submit bids,” said Metra Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Don Orseno. “It also demonstrates our pledge to providing awareness and open access to the business community in competing for contracting opportunities.”

The buying plan covers contracts estimated to be worth at least $40,000. It lists potential contracting opportunities chronologically according to the anticipated quarter for solicitation advertisement by Metra departments such as Engineering, Mechanical, Safety, Finance, Information Systems and Materials Management. The buying plan also includes business opportunities for disadvantaged business enterprises and small business enterprises to encourage their participation in Metra’s bidding process and help prepare them for larger procurements.

The buying plan is available under “Metra and Business” section in the “About Metra” area of Metra’s website.
