MTA releases advertisements featuring LIRR contract offer

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) released its latest Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) contract offer to New Yorkers in newspaper and radio advertisements beginning July 16, in hopes to reach agreements with eight unions and avoid a strike July 20.

“The MTA offered to up their salary 17 percent without raising fares or delaying service improvements, by making modest changes for workers who haven’t even been hired yet. Current employees would get everything they asked for. Yet the unions are still threatening to strike. When is enough enough?” MTA officials say in the advertisements.
