Amtrak moved back to Denver Union Station at February 28, 2014, after being temporarily relocated during construction for redevelopment of the historic building, new commuter rail station and underground bus concourse.

All Amtrak ticketing and passenger services returned to Union Station after serving Denver passengers at a temporary location since 2011. Renovation inside is not yet finished, so Amtrak passengers will access the waiting room, ticketing and baggage office by following signs to the trackside of the building at the south end.

On the morning of February 28, westbound Train 5 was the last train to stop at the temporary station, and Amtrak started service at Denver Union Station with the evening departure of eastbound Train 6.

“Construction will still be very active in and around the historic building so passengers are urged to leave themselves enough time to navigate the construction congestion,” said Regional Transportation District‘s Union Station Project Manager Jerry Nery.

Amtrak operates two trains daily through Denver – the westbound California Zephyr (Train 5) departing at 8:05 a.m. and the eastbound California Zephyr (Train 6) departing at 7:10 p.m. The California Zephyr runs daily between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay city of Emeryville, via Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City and Reno.
