Tutor Perini Corporation has been awarded a contract by Amtrak to construct the 11th Avenue extension to the concrete casing recently completed by Tutor Perini beneath the Eastern Rail Yard of the Hudson Yards site in New York City. The contract value is approximately $56.3 million and the project has been funded through a U.S. Department of Transportation Sandy Resiliency grant under the 2013 Disaster Relief Act.

The project is the next phase of a concrete casing constructed to preserve the future potential pathway of a new train tunnel under the Hudson River into Penn Station. The 11th Avenue concrete casing extension will measure approximately 105 feet long, 50 feet wide and 35 feet tall and will extend underground beneath 11th Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets. Construction began in January 2015 and substantial completion is expected in late 2015.
