The Canadian Divisional Court has dismissed an action brought by Clean Train Coalition in reference to the Metrolinx Air Rail Link (ARL) in Toronto, ON.

“We will continue to work closely with the community to move forward on building the most efficient Air Rail Link for the region,” stated Metrolinx. “We aren’t that far apart in our goals from those who advocate electrification; with the EA in progress, we are on the path towards electrification of the air rail link.”

Work is underway and the ARL service will be delivered by summer 2015. Part of The Big Move, Metrolinx’s regional transportation plan, the ARL will take 1.2 million car trips off the road in its first year, reducing congestion and harmful emissions in our communities.

ARL service will use technology to provide clean passenger diesel trains. The ARL vehicles are fully convertible to electric and the track upgrades and spur line are being built to allow for electrification.
