The Metropolitan Transportation Authority welcomed Former New York Governor David A. Paterson to its board. Gov. Paterson was nominated to serve on the board by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on April 23 and was confirmed to the position by the New York State Senate on June 20. He succeeds Nancy Shevell, who served on the board from June 2001 through January 2012. His term expires on June 30, 2017.

Former Governor Paterson became New York’s 55th Governor on March 17, 2008.

Regarding direct MTA involvement, in 2009, he successfully negotiated an MTA financial rescue package, allowing commuters to avoid service reductions.
