Crews in East Kapolei, Hawaii, have completed the first two miles of elevated guideway for the Honolulu Area Rapid Transit (HART) project.

“Rail construction continues to go gangbusters on the Ewa Plain,” said Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell. “HART has finished the second mile of the elevated guideway and we are marching forward to complete the project that was promised to the people of Oahu in order to provide an alternative to sitting in some of the worse traffic congestion in the nation.”

The two miles of completed guideway is the equivalent of 84 spans. HART so far has also constructed 140 columns that will support the gudieway.

“We continue to work hard in creating a rail transit system that will better the lives of residents by having them spend less time in traffic and more quality time at home with their families,” said HART Board Chairman Ivan Lui-Kwan.
