Beginning Feb. 8, Metrolink will begin replacing 21,000 crossties in Orange County, Calif., over the course of nine weeks between the cities of Orange and San Juan Capistrano.

The project, in conjunction with the Orange County Transportation Authority, is scheduled to be complete on April 8 and will keep the rail system in a state of good repair. Crews will replace approximately 500 crossties a night.

The replacement work will begin near the Orange Metrolink Station and conclude at the Oso Road crossing in San Juan Capistrano. It will take approximately three weeks for the crew to complete the first track beginning in Orange, while the second track will be upgraded during the subsequent five weeks beginning in San Juan Capistrano.
