The Minnesota Counties Transit Improvement Board authorized funding for three rail projects on December 16.

The Metropolitan Council will receive $17.76 million for the Bottineau LRT Blue Line Extension Project. The extension will run from downtown Minneapolis along County Road 81 to Brooklyn Park.

Additionally, the Metropolitan Council for the Mall of America Station Transit Improvements Project will receive $2.25 million, which will improve Red Line travel times and safety near Blue Line light-rail tracks at the station.

The Anoka County Regional Railroad Authority will receive $7.56 million for the Northstar Corridor Safety Improvements at Hanson Boulevard. The money will help fund construction to separate commuter rail and freight rail from vehicle traffic on Hanson Boulevard in Coon Rapids.
