The schedule of work was completed over four overnights last week in an area that stretched from 42 St.-Grand Central to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn. Workers scraped the roadbed, inspected and replaced ties and rails, inspected signals and switches and performed station cleaning and station appearance work that is impossible to do while service is running.
During the four-night series of shutdowns, hundreds of maintenance workers teamed to perform maintenance tasks that included:
• Serviced signals and 16 switches;
• Serviced 10 gap fillers;
• Corrected 1,321 defects, scraped and cleaned 3,300 square feet of track under and around third rail;
• Removed 48,050 pounds of scrap and debris
• Scraped 5,400 feet of track;
• Installed 138 running rails, 1,612 plates, 85 tie blocks, 308 friction pads;
• Installed 40 feet of new handrail;
• Repaired 134 feet of bench wall;
• Sound and tap tested 142 feet of station wall and ceiling, 42 defects corrected;
• Replaced 935 tunnel lights and;
• Painted 1,720 feet of platform rubbing board, repaired 530 feet of rubbing board.
The next FASTRACK will be on the Seventh Avenue 1,2,3 lines from 34th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center for four consecutive nights June 25-29.
