NYCT FASTRACK begins next week on the Lexington Avenue Line

Beginning Monday, September 3, segments of New York City Transit's 4, 5 and 6 lines will be shut down from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., suspending all Lexington Avenue Line service between Grand Central-42nd Street and Atlantic Avenue in both directions for three consecutive weeknights for FASTRACK work.
Inspections and maintenance work will be performed on signals, tracks, tunnels, structures and stations during this period. By shutting down a section of a subway line, we can work more efficiently while providing a much safer environment for transit workers. System-wide, New York City Transit’s weeknight ridership is approximately 250,000 and these FASTRACK closures typically affect from 10% to 15% of those riders depending on the line segment.
By providing a more productive work window, employees will avoid the interruptions of repeatedly having to “clear up” for trains going by. Workers will inspect track, repair or replace rails and perform power and signal maintenance. During this time, workers will repair platform edges, wall tiles and lighting in addition to power washing at some of the closed stations.
The next FASTRACK overnight closure will be on the Sixth Avenue B, D, F and M Lines for four consecutive nights beginning Monday, September 24 and ending Friday, September 28.
