NYCT FASTRACK wraps up week on 6th Avenue Line MTA

New York City Transit's intense maintenance and clean-up program, FASTRACK, wrapped up a weeklong stint along the Sixth Avenue B, D, F and M lines. Once again, hundreds of transit workers inspected, repaired, maintained, cleaned and painted subway infrastructure in stations and tunnels between 59th Street-Columbus Circle and West 4th Street.

Transit employees inspected signals, replaced rails and ties, scraped roadbeds, cleaned stations and painted areas impossible to reach during normal train operation. Workers also cleaned lighting fixtures, changed bulbs and repaired platform edges while performing intense levels of station cleaning, including the removal of tons of refuse.

During the four-night series of shutdowns, more than 800 maintenance workers each night completing hundreds of tasks, an effort that would have taken months under normal operations.

The next FASTRACK overnight closure will be on the Lexington Avenue 4 , 5 and 6 lines from Grand Central-42nd Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center for three consecutive nights beginning Monday, September 3.
