The Denver Regional Transportation District's (RTD) 10.5 mile-long I-225 Rail Line in Aurora, Colo., is now 60 percent finished.

RTD says design work on the entire project is 99 percent complete; all seven light-rail bridges are complete or nearing completion; the pedestrian bridge connecting the Florida Station will be set in June; drainage improvements for Aurora are underway; all eight stations are under construction; catenary poles have been erected to the Mississippi Avenue Bridge; overhead wire has been strung to just north of the Iliff Bridge and track and ballast have been installed up to Exposition Avenue and from 13th Avenue to south of the South Toll Gate Bridge.

The I-225 Rail Line is scheduled to open in 2016 and will be known as the “R Line.” The R Line will traverse through Aurora and connect with major centers like the Aurora City Center, the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Children’s Hospital and the future VA Medical Center.

It will also take passengers to the new Peoria Station at I-70 where they can transfer to the East Rail Line to go to the airport or Union Station in downtown Denver.
