The $40 million installment is the fourth of six, totaling $239 million that BART Silicon Valley will receive under the state of California TCRP Allocation Plan, which was adopted by the CTC in September 2008.
The current $40 million allocation is designated for project construction. Near-term construction activities include ongoing site preparations, utility relocations and trenching at both the future Berryessa and Milpitas BART Station campuses. Upcoming construction work along the project corridor is also planned at Dixon Landing Road, Mission Boulevard, Warren Avenue, Montague Expressway, Sierra Road, Lundy Avenue, Capitol Avenue and Trade Zone Boulevard.
The BART Silicon Valley Extension Project was identified as one of 53 projects statewide eligible to receive TCRP funds in 2000, when legislation passed creating the program. The TCRP legislation identified $760 million for the entire Fremont to San Jose corridor. To date, BART has received $111 million for the BART Warm Springs Extension and Santa Clara VTA has received a total of $569 million, with $79 million expected over the next two years.
