SEPTA names new assistant general manager of operations

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority promoted Ronald Hopkins to assistant general manager of operations.
With this appointment, which is effective immediately, Hopkins will oversee the operation of SEPTA’s entire fleet of more than 2,000 vehicles: buses, trolleys, subway-elevated and regional rail cars. This includes the operation and maintenance of all 23 SEPTA shops and the management of nearly 7,000 employees. He will report directly to Jeff Knueppel, the newly-appointed deputy general manager.
Hopkins, a 22-year employee, began his career in the System Safety Department. He progressed to the role of director of System Safety prior to being promoted to the position of chief control center officer, a position he has held for the past 11 years.
“One of his foremost accomplishments was overseeing the consolidation and centralization of all modes of operations into a state-of-the-art Control Center,” said
general manager Joseph Casey “We wish him continued success in his new role.”
In addition to his new, Hopkins will continue to maintain oversight of the Control Center, until the position is filled.
