"This rail maintenance work is another example of our efforts to maintain a state of good repair as we accommodate nearly 700,000 boardings a day," said Edward Reiskin, director of transportation.
The Switch Replacement Project is part of regular rail maintenance by Muni's maintenance-of-way personnel. It will ensure a safer, more reliable transportation network by replacing worn infrastructure and keeping Muni in a state of good repair. This project is part of an upgrade of the existing track work along the L Taraval, as well as the N Judah and J Church lines. There will be a total of four switches replaced along the L Line and two on the J Line over the next of few weekends.
