Toronto City Council dissolves existing TTC board, appoints new board

Written by

Toronto City Council dissolved the existing board of the Toronto Transit Commission and appointed a new board made up of seven city councilors and four private citizens.

The chair of the TTC was also elected by City Council. Councilor Karen Stintz was elected as chair, a position she currently holds. The private citizen members will be appointed later this year. Once that occurs, one of the private citizens will be named vice-chair.

The city councilors appointed as commissioners are Councilor Karen Stintz, Councilor Maria Augimeri, Councilor Raymond Cho,

Councilor Josh Colle,
 Councilor Glenn De Baeremaeker
, Councilor Peter Milczyn and
 Councilor John Parker.

The decision was made as part of a city staff report dealing with governance of the TTC. The former board consisted entirely of nine city councilors.
