Transdev has named Luke McCaul as general manager of Cincinnati Bell Connector operations. He began in his new role Jan. 4, replacing Interim General Manager Mark Young.

McCaul brings more than 15 years of experience based near Boston at Pan Am Railways, the largest North American regional railroad.

“We are impressed with Luke’s focus on the details that translate to daily operating success,” said Ken Westbrook, Transdev’s Rail Division president. “He understands at every level how to build and maintain a successful system—from enhanced customer service and uncompromising safety practices, to encouraging discussions with front-line employees. We are thrilled he is part of the team.”

As general manager of operations, he oversaw daily operations for 136 passenger trains and more than 60 freight trains. He managed 150 employees in all customer service and operational areas and Transdev says he is knowledgeable on the best practices and compliance with regulations set by the United States Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Administration. McCaul has set his focus on ensuring operational safety and providing the best quality of service possible, while also working to motivate his employees to perform to the best of their ability on a daily basis.

McCaul began working for Pan Am Railways in 2002 under the role of train operations manager. He progressed to the role of assistant director, then to general superintendent and eventually to the position of general manager.

McCaul is active in the American Association of Railroad Superintendents, Boston Street Railway Historical Society and the New England Electric Railway Historical Society.
