Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads, named two railroaders, Christopher F. Liucci and Jim Vena, to its Board of Directors.

Liucci is the chief accounting officer and global controller of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI), which owns and operates 111 shortline and regional freight railroads in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. Vena is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Canadian National Railway, based in Montreal, Quebec. He is responsible for the company’s rail operations in Canada and the United States

Liucci joined GWI in his current role in March 2006. He was previously director of global financial planning and reporting and controller of financial reporting/internal controls with biotechnology company Genencor International, Inc., and served as an Audit Manager with Coopers & Lybrand L.L.P. Liucci is a C.P.A. and has a B.S. in accounting from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an M.B.A. from The Simon School of the University of Rochester.

Vena was appointed to his current role with CN in February 2013. He joined CN in 1977 and has served in several operating and marketing positions. Prior to his most recent appointment, Vena served as senior vice-president, Southern Region since April 2009. Vena is a graduate of the University of Alberta and Athabasca University.

“We are very fortunate to have both Mr. Liucci and Mr. Vena join the TTCI Board of Directors,” said TTCI President Lisa Stabler.

“As a for-profit research organization, the TTCI management team welcomes the extensive financial background and global business perspective Mr. Liucci will provide,” Stabler said. “And Mr. Vena’s election to the Board of Directors continues the great tradition of support TTCI management has always had from CN. His background in operations is invaluable to us,” she added.

“I am honored to be associated with TTCI, which provides important research, testing, and training related to the railroad industry,” Liucci said. “Based on my experience with short-line and regional railroads, I understand the importance of addressing safety, service, and customer/stakeholder concerns and look forward to contributing to TTCI’s efforts in these and other areas.”

“I am pleased to join the board of directors of TTCI. CN values the center’s research and testing work that has delivered important technological solutions for the North American rail industry,” Vena said.
