Atlantic Track & Turnout hosts staff from Sen. Durbin’s office

On February 22, staff of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) joined National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association (NRC) member – Atlantic Track & Turnout Co. (Atlantic Track) – for a tour of its facility in Richmond, Ill.

 

Dave Francis, regional vice president, and George Perelli, plant manager, gave an overview of the company and their current operations. Atlantic Track was established in 1923. Atlantic Track manufactures special trackwork for the railroad industry. Atlantic Track also inventories and distributes new and used rail products including rail, joint bars, tie plates, ties and switch timbers throughout the United States. Atlantic Track also provides products for crane runway systems and transit systems.

Atlantic Track’s Richmond, Ill., plant was built in 1982 and expanded in 2010. Certified to both AAR M1003 and ISO 9001 quality systems, the plant specializes is the manufacture of special trackwork for the railroad and transit industries.

Sen. Durbin was elected to the U.S. senate in 1996, and re-elected in 2002, 2008 and 2014. He is Illinois’ senior senator and also serves as the Democratic Whip, the second highest ranking position among Senate Democrats. Durbin sits on the Senate Judiciary, Appropriations, and Rules Committees.
