Congressman Andy Harris (R-MD), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, visited the Rhinehart Railroad Construction offices in Fallston, Md., on May 31, 2013. The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) organized the event.

During the visit, Rhinehart Railroad Construction executives briefed the congressman on the history and current state of the company and highlighted some of their recent projects.

Rhinehart Railroad Construction has been in the railroad contracting business for more than 40 years and is still family owned and operated. The company specializes in track construction, preventative track maintenance, inspection services and equipment rental, among other construction and maintenance services.

Rhinehart employs 43 people, having just added eight new jobs in the past five months.

Rhinehart Railroad Construction recently completed track expansion and upgrade projects for a number coal facilities, manufacturing companies and power plants.

On June 10, Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) joined representatives from Tram Construction Inc. and the NRC for a tour of the Tram Construction railyard in Garrison, Ky.

Tram Construction began in 1982 with the president of the company moonlighting out of the back of his pickup truck. Thirty-one years later, Tram now employs 26 workers in the northeastern Kentucky area.

The congressman joined Tram Construction executives for an introduction and briefing, followed by a tour of the rail yard. Tram Construction specializes in track inspection, track construction and rehabilitation, construction materials and supplies.

“As a member of the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials subcommittee of the House Transportation Committee, I appreciate how vital railways are to our nation’s economy,” said Rep. Massie. “Railways are important to our community because they create jobs and job creation is a priority for Congress. Tram Construction employs more than two dozen northern Kentuckians and is an example of how local industry can boost the economy.”
