DBi Services acquires Mercier’s

DBi Services

DBi Services, a global provider of infrastructure operations and maintenance, has acquired the assets of the Ohio-based company Mercier’s Inc., effective Nov. 29.  

Mercier’s central branch currently employs more than 50 people under the ownership of Craig Mercier, representatives say.

Founded in 1978, Mercier’s operated through two branches—primarily serving the railroad and Department of Transportation maintenance markets—until January 2016, when DBi acquired the Mercier’s Inc. Harmans, Maryland Branch.

“We have a lot of respect for Craig, and for the team and business he has built,” said Mark Robinson, DBi services president and COO. “We welcome Craig and all of Mercier’s employees to the DBi family, and we look forward to successful growth together.”

Mercier’s provides services such as on-track railroad vegetation management, right-of-way herbicide applications and mowing, stormwater management, bio-retention trenches, incident and emergency management and roadway and roadside traffic control.

DBi says its acquisition of Mercier’s Ohio facility aligns with the company’s growth objectives, and officials expect it will provide added opportunities throughout the Midwest for DBi’s core businesses.

DBi will now operate Mercier’s Inc. under the name DBi Services, maintaining operations in the current South Point, Ohio, location. DBi says it has plans for future consolidation of the Ohio location with its Huntington, W. Va., facility. 

Craig Mercier’s focus will initially be on managing an effective integration plan to allow operations to transition smoothly into DBi Services. Representatives say he will later transition into a business development role with DBi, focusing on the Midwest region.
