After more than 31 years working for Harsco Rail in several customer related service roles, Tom Totzke will retire May 31, 2015.

“We will miss him dearly and we wish Tom a long and healthy retirement,” stated Doug Combs, director of aftermarket service. “We understand that we will not be able to replace him, however, business must go on and we do have plans to ensure that the level of customer service you have come to expect will continue.

To fill the spot, Mike Dietz was promoted to manager of aftermarket service, Americas, effective immediately. In his new position, Dietz will be responsible to continue providing support to customers for Harsco equipment in North America, as well as promoting the growth of the business segment. He has a wealth of equipment knowledge from working for Harsco Rail 38 years with leadership roles in manufacturing, contracting and service.

Tony Origer has accepted the role of director of aftermarket service. Origer has more than 33 years of service for Harsco Rail. He recently led the contract service team with great successes in customer service and the lowest recordable injury levels in the history of Harsco Contracting.

In efforts to improve customer service, the company is restructuring the aftermarket service team to include three regional field service supervisors and a global technical and training manager. The three regions will allow the company to provide a focus contact in order to improve customer support in each region in alignment with its sales team. The regions are Eastern U.S., Western U.S. and Canada. Each of the regional supervisors will report to Dietz. Their responsibilities will include direct contact with customers and scheduling of service technicians reporting to them. The global technical and training manager will lead a technical and training team for the global market. The manager of aftermarket service and the global technical and training manager will report to Origer.

In conjunction with the changes, the company promoted Kevin Hintz to supervisor of the Canadian region, Bryan James to supervisor of the Eastern U.S. and Steve McAuley as the global technical and training manager. At this point, the Western U.S. Region is still open and will be Dietz’s responsibility
