Holland LP has acquired the operating assets of The Bankhead Companies, based in Atlanta, Ga.

Bankhead has more than 200 employees and provides thermite welding services for the railroad industry. Bankhead also operates a fixed welding plant, as well as a manufacturing and fabrication facility.

Bankhead was founded in 1945 by Glenn Taylor and provides services to many Class 1 railroads. He remained active in the company until his death in 2006. In 1997, one of his daughters, Glenda Taylor Cole, joined Bankhead and has continued to cultivate the business over the past 18 years. She currently serves as president.

By combining flash butt, thermite and electric technologies, Holland will now provide complete rail welding services to its customers. The company says that with this acquisition, the company is strengthening its commitment to being a rail industry leader.
