L.B. Foster appoints new senior VP

L.B. Foster Company has appointed Alexandre Kosmala as its new senior vice president, effective Aug. 15, 2016.

In his new position, Kosmala will focus on Tubular and Energy Services and the Construction segment of the Pittsburgh-based company.

The combination of his diverse operating skills, strong technical background, and proven leadership ability will be a great asset as he assumes responsibility for our businesses that serve the energy and construction markets,” said Robert P. Bauer, L.B. Foster Company president and CEO. “At a time when our markets are changing and customers place significant demands on their suppliers, Alex is the kind of leader who can develop strategies that adjust to changing requirements and teams that will deliver solutions.”

Kosmala’s office will be based in Houston, Texas, where nearly all of the company’s Tubular and Energy Services divisions are located, with another office in L.B. Foster’s Pittsburgh headquarters building.

Prior to joining L.B. Foster, Kosmala held the role of executive vice president at Saltel Industries, which specializes in well construction and drilling products and well maintenance solutions.

Kosmala has also previously served as president and CEO of Artificial Lift Company, a company focusing on the technology of slick-line deployed Electric Submersible Pumps and permanent magnet motors for well completion solutions. While heading Artificial Lift, Kosmala targeted under-served markets to globalize the company’s products and services and grew relationships with the top gas and oil developers worldwide.

He launched his career as field engineer in the drilling and measurements division of Schlumberger Limited, the largest oilfield services company worldwide, and spent 20 years working for the company on various international projects for which he had profit and loss responsibility for businesses throughout Asia and Europe. He is also known to have successfully organized newly acquired companies.

Kosmala received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Universite Henri Poincaré in France, a Diplome d’Ingenieur from École Nationale Supérieure d’Electricité et de Mécanique, also in France.

Kosmala also holds a master’s in Aerospace engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and recently received recognition from the university as a distinguished alumnus.
