Global design and consulting firm Arup has been chosen to lead the feasibility reassessment of the North-South Rail Link (NSRL) project, a proposed new rail connection between two central Boston commuter hubs.

The comprehensive study, commissioned by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), will evaluate design options and impacts, and costs and benefits. The report will be completed by Spring 2018.

“Through our effective delivery of the Green Line Extension, we understand the priorities and policies of MassDOT and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, as well as the concerns of the communities in the Boston metro area,” said Arup Project Director Jeff Tubbs. “We look forward to combining this with our deep planning and engineering experience in the assessment of effective solutions for the North-South Rail Link.”
