Sergio Pecori, P.E., president and chief executive officer at Hanson Professional Services Inc., has joined the executive advisory board (EAB) of the National University Rail (NURail) Center.

The NURail Center, which was established in 2012 with funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation, is a consortium of seven partner colleges and universities that focuses on rail transportation and engineering education, research, technology transfer and workforce development. The advisory board offers input on the NURail Center’s strategic planning and outreach activities.

The NURail Center is headquartered at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is led by UIUC Professor Christopher Barkan, executive director of UIUC’s Rail Transportation and Engineering Center (RailTEC).

“Satch’s experience and commitment to advancing railway engineering education is a great asset to NURail, and he also brings the perspective of the consulting engineering community to the EAB, which is important to our rail workforce development mission,” Barkan said.
