The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors approved the contract for David Genova as the general manager and chief executive officer of RTD. Genova was chosen following an 11-month international search that included 37 public meetings.

”First of all, I thank the RTD Board of Directors for approving this contract and showing their ongoing confidence in me. I am pleased with the contract, I believe it represents a fair, reasonable, appropriate and transparent recruitment process conducted by the board,” said Genova. ”I am eager to carry on and continue to serve our community, the board and the outstanding team of RTD employees.”

Genova has been acting as the interim general mnager and CEO of the agency since April 2015. He previously served as assistant general manager of safety, scurity and facilities and was designated by Washington as his successor in the staff succession plan. Genova has been with RTD for more than 22 years, serving for eight years as the assistant general manager of safety, security and facilities and prior to that, was the senior manager of public safety for 10 years. He brings extensive leadership experience from throughout the agency, including overseeing safety certification for rail line openings and the newly renovated Denver Union Station.

”I would like to thank the board members for their commitment to a transparent and thorough process”, said RTD Board Chair Tom Tobiassen. ”I am pleased that we approved this contract and look forward to moving into a new era with Dave as our leader. ”
