SEPTA names new chief engineer

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) promoted Andrew Gillespie to chief engineer, in the Engineering, Maintenance & Construction Division.

With this appointment, which is effective immediately, Gillespie will oversee SEPTA’s Power, Track, Bridges & Building and C&S Departments. He will report directly to Robert Lund, Jr., the newly-appointed assistant general manager of the Engineering, Maintenance & Construction Division.

Gillespie, a six-year employee, has a diverse background in the engineering, construction and operations of transportation and transit systems. Prior to joining SEPTA, he was the senior project manager and engineering lead on Denver’s Regional Transportation Division East Corridor electric commuter rail and the traction power lead on the division’s southeast corridor light-rail extension project.

With a total of 16 years of experience in the industry, he has also served as assistant division engineer for New Jersey Transit and has held various engineering and management positions at multiple consulting firms.
