Hill International (prime) and CH2M (principal sub-consultant) have been selected by Valley Metro as program and construction management consultants on future high-capacity transit projects in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The high-capacity transit projects include the region’s first streetcar, a new light rail station on the existing Valley Metro Rail system and a five-mile light-rail extension. The new station and extension are part of Phoenix’s voter-approved 35-year multi-modal transportation plan, T2050, which will triple the number of light-rail miles in Phoenix.

CH2M said that over the five-year contract, the firm, as principal sub-consultant, will work alongside Valley Metro Rail and Hill International to build the region’s transportation future, providing cost and schedule control, monitoring and reporting on project progress, change and risk management, design management, constructability reviews, cost estimating, value engineering and procurement assistance.

The expansion will provide greater access for the 15.6 million annual Valley Metro Rail riders, linking new communities to the Valley’s current 26-mile light-rail system. The expansion of Valley Metro Rail will also help the valley meet its economic development, sustainability and accessibility goals.
