KamPa International Inc. (KamPa) and voestalpine Nortrak Inc. (Nortrak) have announced a new partnership to supply North American freight and passenger railroads with noise control components and rail dampers.

Representatives say the partnership is referred to as “KamPa by Nortrak” and will pair KamPa’s noise reduction proficiency and patented European technology with Nortrak’s extensive design and manufacturing capabilities.

‘“KamPa by Nortrak”’ provides our North American customers with a noise mitigation tool that is a small fraction of the cost of installing sound barriers, insulated glazing, or additional rail grinding,” said Nortrak CEO Dave Millard.

The partnership will bring customers the KamPa Damper, a passive-tuned tool that clamps to the rail and controls broadband railway noise at its source by reducing rail vibration during the passage of a train.

Representatives describe the tool as a cost-effective noise mitigation solution for use in sensitive locations, adding that the dampers can be applied to ballasted, ballastless and high-speed tracks with no need for any drilling of the rail. The product also allows for easy installation, improved longevity and simplified visual inspections.

“Nortrak’s set of competencies fit perfectly with KamPa’s philosophy of strategic partnerships that utilize each party’s complementary strengths,” said KamPa CEO Paul Kampfraath.

The “KamPa by Nortrak” line will also be exhibited at the upcoming NRC-REMSA Conference and Exhibition held Jan. 8-10 in Boca Raton, Fla.
