The public now has the opportunity to comment on the environmental document for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's (SCVTA) project to add a second set of light-rail tracks in Mountain View, Calif.

The Mountain View Double-Track Project involves constructing the second set of tracks adjacent to the existing set of light-rail tracks between State Route 85 and Whisman Light Rail Station in Mountain View. This project will allow SCVTA to improve the overall performance and reliability of the system.

SCVTA has prepared a document the Draft Initial Study/Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration, as required by the California Environmental Quality Act. This document analyzes the potential environmental impacts associated with construction, operation and maintenance of the project. According to the document, “The results of the analysis show that all potentially significant impacts of the Project could be avoided or mitigated to less‐than‐significant levels.”
