As part of the San Mateo Bridges Replacement Project, Caltrain will replace the 100-year-old Tilton Avenue rail bridge on the weekend of Nov. 7, 2015.

Caltrain, in cooperation with the city of San Mateo, Calif., is replacing the four 100-year-old rail bridges located at Tilton, Monte Diablo, Santa Inez and Poplar Avenues, which no longer meet current seismic safety standards. The next bridge replacement is tentatively scheduled for December at Monte Diablo Avenue.

The project will ensure that the aging bridges are safe and equipped to meet the region’s future transportation needs, including new electrified rail service and improved traffic flow on city streets. The project is expected to be complete by October 2016.
