Parsons has hired Joseph Abruzzo as its railroad bridge practice leader, where he will be responsible for directing the pursuit and execution of railroad bridge projects worldwide.

Abruzzo has more than 22 years of experience in the design, construction and inspection of structures for transit agencies, as well as Class 1 and shortline railroads. In addition, he has expertise in the development and maintenance of shortline railroad bridge management programs, which are mandated by the Federal RailroadAdministration to ensure bridge safety through annual bridge inspections.

“Parsons delivers a full spectrum of rail projects around the world and Joe will further enhance our service to the rail community,” said Michael Johnson, Parsons Group president. “I am confident that his solid experience and reputation in the Class 1 railroad bridge market will serve our customers well.”

Abruzzo has successfully delivered design services for the construction and rehabilitation of numerous Class 1 railroads, including Union Pacific, BNSF, Norfolk Southern, Canadian National, as well as Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad and Chicago’s Metra.
